The 6th National Forum of Deans /Department Heads of Japanese Majors Convenes at Sichuan University

The Sixth National High-end Forum of Deans/Department Heads of Japanese Majors convened recently in Sichuan University. Gang Xiu, Chairman of the Japanese Subcommittee of the Teaching Steering Committee for Foreign Language and Literature Majors of the Ministry of Education, Xieyi Song, Vice-Chairman of the Japanese Language Subcommittee of the Ministry of Education, Yifu Zhou, Chairman of the Japanese Language Teaching Association of China, E-xian Li, Vice-Chairman of the Japanese Language Teaching Association of China, Wei Huang, Vice-Chairman of the Shanghai Foreign Language Education Publishing House, and more than 200 Japanese education experts and scholars from various universities and research fields participated. Ping Cao, Vice Chairman of the university council of Sichuan University, attended the forum.

At the opening ceremony, Ping Cao, on behalf of Sichuan University, extended welcome to the attendees and thanked people and friends from all walks of life who have cared and supported the development of Sichuan University. She subsequently introduced the history of Sichuan University and her foreign language majors. She also introduced in particular the Japanese Language Department in terms of its subject construction, talent training, team building and academic research in the past two years. She expected that this forum would produce results conducive to the development of the undergraduate teaching in Japanese Department. Gang Xiu, Yifu Zhou, Wei Huang addressed the forum respectively, expressing gratitude and regards to the forum host and all experts and scholars at the forum.

In the morning, Gang Xiu, Yifu Zhou, Jie Gao and Song Yin delivered a key-note speech one after another.

In the afternoon, four sub-forums were held: textbook construction and teacher development for Japanese majors, discipline construction and talent cultivation for Japanese majors (1), discipline construction and talent cultivation for Japanese majors (2), discipline construction and talent cultivation for Japanese majors (3). Different forums held heated discussions on various topics.

After the sub-forum, Jun Wang, editor of the Multilingual Business Department of Shanghai Foreign Language Education Publishing House, introduced the Japanese publishing work of the Foreign Language Education Press in recent years. Feng Duan, Dean of College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, Sichuan University, introduced the development history of College of Foreign Languages and Cultures, and the Japanese Department of Sichuan University. Xieyi Song made a concluding speech to the conference.
