The inauguration ceremony of the National Industrial Innovation Center of Precision Medicine was held in the Chengdu Tianfu International Shengwucheng (biology park) on March 23. Peng Qinghua, Secretary of the provincial Party committee, and Governor Huang Qiang jointly unveiled the plaque of the center. Shi Xiaolin, Secretary of the Chengdu municipal Party committee, Wang Yihong, Secretary General of the provincial Party committee, Yang Xingping, the deputy governor, Wang Fengchao, the mayor of Chengdu, Chairman Wang Jianguo of the university council of Sichuan University, President Li Yanrong of SCU, President Li Weimin of the West China Hospital of Sichuan University and Li ZhengChi, Secretary of the Party committee of WCH attended the ceremony.
In collaboration with eight work units of the industrial chain such as Shanghai Ruijin, Tsinghua University, Shanghai Pharma, BGI Tech,Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals,MACCURA and CDHT Investment (Chengdu High Tech Investment), and led by the West China Hospital of Sichuan University, the National Industrial Innovation Center of Precision Medicine is one of the eight industrial innovation centers approved by the state as well as the first industrial innovation center in the field of biomedicine in China.
Governor Huang Qiang and Shi Xiaolin congratulated on the establishment of the center and said that they would give further support to the construction of the center.
On behalf of Sichuan University, Wang Jianguo thanked the state, the province and the city for their trust and support to Sichuan University. Sichuan University will give full play to the advantages of the West China Medicine and strive to build the center into a world-class innovation center for precision medicine industry.
The industrial innovation center will be committed to building an "aircraft carrier" precision medicine industry cluster. The center is run by a council and consists of industrial innovation research institutes. It boasts a talent team of 286 people, which is led by five academicians Wei Yuquan, Zhang Xingdong, Chen Runsheng, Yang Huanming and Cheng Jing, and 63 "national famous talent". The center is dedicated to the development of four innovation platforms, including precision diagnosis, precision treatment, precision evaluation and precision strategic medicinal resource bank. It will make every effort to tackle key technologies concerning genetic diagnosis, protein and antibody synthesis, microfluidic technology, biochip, immortalized cell and so on. At the same time, the center will establish a market-oriented industrial innovation company to provide comprehensive services such as intellectual property, achievement transfer and transformation, science, technology and finance incubation.
It is expected that the center will effectively consolidate various innovative resources in the precision medicine industry and reach the domestic leading and internationally advanced level in key fields such as cell therapy, tumor targeted new drugs and vaccine research and development, medical 3D printing and artificial intelligence in the next 3-5 years. It will also provide public technical services for the industry, unite more than 600 industry-university-research institute co-operations, obtain more than 1,000 independent intellectual property rights, and drive the output value of precision medicine industry over 100 billion yuan.
