SCU Held the 2024 Food Festival and the 7th "My Favorite Hometown Cuisine" Student Cooking Competition

In order to carry out labor education, guide students to love labor, cherish labor achievements, and cultivate their practical labor skills, the university held the 2024 Food Festival and the 7th "My Favorite Hometown Cuisine" Student Cooking Competition at the Youth Square of Jiang'an Campus on May 30, 2024. Liu Xiaohu, Deputy Secretary of the university Party committee, and leaders from relevant departments such as the Publicity Department, Student Affairs Department, Security Department, the Youth League Committee, International Affairs Department, and Logistics Support Department attended the event. The competition was divided into two stages: the preliminary and the final. After two days of intense competition on May 27th and 28th, 35 teams advanced to the finals. The finalists decided on their own and made their unique hometown dish respectively.

The judges elected a total of three first prizes, six second prizes, 12 third prizes, and 14 awards of excellence. This culinary competition exemplifies the university’s student training principle to stress labor throughout the entire process of talent cultivation. It is also a good opportunity for the Logistics Support Department to set up a culinary exhibition platform for students in the High Quality Service Month. By organizing campus activities which are closely linked to daily life and mundane culture, the university guides students to establish a right labor attitude, develops their interest in cooking, and improves their labor literacy and life skills.
