Ms.Jennifer May, Canada's Ambassador to the People's Republic of China, and her delegation visited the university on March 19. President Jinsong Wang met with guests in the Mingde Building on Wangjiang Campus. Vice Consul General Yongshi Tan of Canada in Chongqing, Vice President Leye Yao of SCU, and heads of relevant units from both sides attended the meeting.
On behalf of SCU, President Wang welcomed the ambassador and her delegation and briefly introduced the basic situation of the university. He pointed out that Sichuan University has stayed committed to open education, and vigorously promoted international exchanges and cooperation, including activities such as UIP (the University Immersion Program and "Da Chuan Vision") in order to continuously expand students' international perspectives, and improve their cross-cultural communication abilities. We hope that both sides can further deepen exchanges and cooperation in talent cultivation, faculty building, scientific research, and other areas, and continue to promote the Sino-Canada friendship.
The Ambassador thanked the university for the hospitable reception. She pointed out that Sichuan University is a century old prestigious university with profound heritage. SCU has maintained good cooperative relationships with Canadian universities such as the University of Toronto and the University of Ottawa. The Canadian Embassy in China is willing to bridge the cooperation between Canadian universities and Sichuan University, boosting mutual development.
