The meeting for the founding of the Sichuan University Alumni Association Singapore was held in Singapore on the afternoon of June 7. Zhang Wei, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Sichuan University, and heads of relevant units such as the university Personnel Office, the External Liaison Office, the College of Physics, the School of Mechanical Engineering, the College of Computer Science (the School of Software, the School of Intelligent Science and Technology), the School of Chemical Engineering, the College of Biomass Science and Engineering,the West China School of Stomatology, and the Business School attended the meeting. Han Jun, Minister Counsellor of the Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Wang Wei, First Secretary, heads of university alumni associations in Singapore, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, also attended the meeting to extend their congratulations.
Zhang Wei and Chen Sen, Secretary General of Sichuan University Alumni Association (SCUAA), awarded the appointment letter to the first Council of Alumni Association Singapore. Zhang Wei presented the alma mater gift to Zhang Jing, President of the First Council of the Singapore Alumni association. The conference also broadcast the blessings of alumni from Sichuan University Alumni Association Australia - New Zealand, the Law School Alumni Association of Chengdu, Sichuan University Global Alumni Entrepreneurs Central Association (referred to as "Central Alliance"), Alumni Association Shenzhen and so forth.
On behalf of the SCUAA, Chen Sen congratulated the establishment of Sichuan University Alumni Association Singapore. He then introduced the alumni work of the university in recent years, and hoped that the global alumni would unite, set out on a new journey together, and write stories of Sichuan University in the process of building a community of shared future for the mankind. Zhang Jing reviewed the founding process of the SCUAA Singapore, introduced the association makeup and its activities. He said that he would better unite the alumni in Singapore and contribute to the strength of Sichuan University in Singapore, a hot land in the South. Han Jun pointed out in his speech that the establishment of the SCUAA Singapore is a happy thing for the SCU alumni in Singapore. It is also a good thing for the educational exchanges between China and the West. He hoped that the Singapore alumni of Sichuan University could better unite, help promote the Sino-Singapore relations and Sino-Singapore education exchanges and cooperation, making new contributions to the alma mater and the motherland.
In his speech, Zhang Wei introduced the progress and reform and development ideas of the alma mater in talent training, team building, scientific research, cultural inheritance and other aspects in recent years. Then, he elaborated the ideas and requirements of the university's alumni work. He hoped that alumni can take the alumni association as a position, intensify communication, exchange and cooperation, and build a platform for alumni in Singapore. He further hoped that the alumni can actively contact alumni from sister universities and friendly individuals from all sectors of society, and make new contributions to exchanges and cooperation between China and Singapore in technology, education, and other fields.
