The signing and opening ceremony of the Dongfang Electric-Sichuan University Joint Institute for Innovation was held in Mingde building, Wangjiang campus on March 14. Chairman Gan Lin of the university council, President Wang Jinsong of Sichuan University, Yu Peigen, the Party secretary and chairman of Dongfang Electric Corporation, and Song Zhiyuan, the deputy secretary of the Party group and director of DEC, attended the ceremony. Also present at the ceremony were Vice President Chu Liangyin of SCU, Zhang Yanjun, deputy general manager of Dongfang Electric Corporation, and relevant leaders.
Gan Lin welcomed Yu Peigen and his party and thanked DEC for its long-term support to the university. He pointed out that it is the obligation and mission of DEC and SCU to strengthen university-enterprise cooperation, serve national major strategies and promote high-quality development of local economy and society. He hoped that the two sides would avail themselves of this opportunity to build the joint innovation institute to continuously deepen cooperation, tackle major scientific and technological problems together, cultivate first-class scientific and technological talent, build exemplary university-enterprise innovation consortiums, create national strategic science and technology forces, and make due contributions to national high-level scientific and technological self-reliance.
Yu Peigen congratulated the establishment of the joint innovation institute, and briefly introduced the development of DEC. He hoped that both parties could further deepen the cooperation between industry, university and research based on the joint institute, improve the collaborative innovation mechanism, create a benchmark model for the integration of innovation chain and industrial chain, and contribute to China's construction of an important talent center and innovation highland of the world.
Chu Liangyin and Zhang Yanjun signed a cooperation agreement on behalf SCU and DEC respectively. Gan Lin, Wang Jinsong, Yu Peigen and Song Zhiyuan unveiled the Dongfang Electric- Sichuan University Joint Institute for Innovation.
