The launching ceremony of Sino-Russian Mathematics Center-Chengdu Base, which was constructed by SCU, was held on May 31 in the international cooperation and exchange center of our university. President Li Yanrong, Zhang Jiping, director of Sino-Russian Mathematics Center and academician of CAS from Peking University, Ye Xiangdong (academician of CAS) of the University of Science and Technology of China, Zheng Xiaojing (academician of CAS) of Xidian University, professors Chen Dayue and Fan Huijun, Professor Li Anmin, academician of CAS and director of the academic committee of Sino-Russian Mathematics Center-Chengdu Base, as well as experts and scholars from Peking University and Moscow Center for Basic and Applied Mathematics attended the kick-off meeting. The meeting was presided over by Wang Baofu, dean of the College of Mathematics.
In his speech, Li Yanrong, on behalf of the University, congratulated the establishment of the Sino-Russian Mathematics Center - Chengdu Base. He said that the Center was established under the auspices of Premier Li Keqiang and vice premier Sun Chunlan. It is significant in promoting China-Russia cooperation in the field of mathematics as well as the development of mathematics. Mathematics of Sichuan University has a long history and solid foundation. It has established a good cooperative relationship with Russian scientific research institutions in relevant fields, and has carried out multi-level international exchanges and cooperation in talent training, scientific research, etc. Our university will vigorously support the development of the Center, join efforts so as to build a gathering place for young Chinese and Russian mathematicians, a bridgehead for mathematical exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia, and develop a world-class mathematical center.
Zhang Jiping briefly introduced the basic situation of the Center. He noted that with a solid foundation and rapid development, the College of Mathematics of Sichuan University has made fruitful achievements in talent training and scientific research in recent years. He hoped that the Sino-Russian Mathematics Center-Chengdu Base can give full play to the advantages of Mathematics of Sichuan University, vigorously promote the in-depth exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia in talent training, scientific research, international cooperation and exchange, and contribute to the development of a mathematics power in China
In his speech, Li Anmin said that both China and Russia are big countries in mathematics, and it is of great significance to strengthen cooperation in the field of mathematics between the two countries.
Li Yanrong, Zhang Jiping, Li Anmin, and Zhang Weinian, executive director of the base, jointly inaugurated the base.
At the kick-off meeting, Zhang Weinian reported the basic situation of the base. Ye Xiangdong, other experts and scholars, and the heads of relevant departments of our university carried out exchanges and discussions around the construction of the center and the base, and the in-depth cooperation between the two countries in the field of mathematics.
