Sichuan University and the city of Yibin signed in Chengdu a cooperative agreement to build Sichuan-Yibin Industrial Park on the morning of April 25th. Qinghua Peng, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, attended the signing ceremony.Minghui Wang, Secretary-General of Sichuan Provincial Committee, Zhengpu Wang, the organization minister, Xingping Yang, vice-governor of Sichuan Province, Zhongbo Liu, Secretary of Yibin Municipal Committee, Jianguo Wang, SCU university council chairman, and SCU President Yanrong Li, attended and witnessed the signing of the contract. Ziping Du, vice secretary of the city party committee and mayor of Yibin, Weilin Xu, vice president of Sichuan University, signed the contract on behalf of both sides.Among those present at the signing ceremony were relevant leaders of provincial governments, Yibin Municipal Party Committee, Cuiping District, relevant functional departments and enterprises, SCU vice presidents Shijing Yan, Bin Liang and heads of SCU relevant departments.
At the signing ceremony, Zhongbo Liu, on behalf of the Yibin Municipal Committee, the municipal government and the people of the city, welcomed and thanked the leaders and guests who attended the signing ceremony. After briefly introducing the main contents of the Agreement on Deepening Cooperation between Yibin Municipal People's Government and Sichuan University, Zhongbo Liu said that the agreement on deepening cooperation between Yibin Municipality and Sichuan University exemplifies the provincial government's support for Sichuan University and Yibin as well as Sichuan University's support for Yibin's economic and social development. The Yibin Party Committee and municipal government will implement with utmost seriousness the cooperative agreement and strive to provide a first-class environment and services for the construction of Sichuan-Yibin Industrial Park, setting up a good model of cooperation between universities and local areas.
On behalf of the university, Jianguo Wang expressed his gratitude to the provincial Party committee, the provincial government, Yibin municipal Party committee and municipal government and other relevant departments for their long-standing concern and support for the development of Sichuan University. He said that Sichuan University would carry out without any reservations the major decisions and arrangements of the provincial Party Committee and provincial government, assisting the Ministry of Education and Sichuan Province to sign an agreement to promote the construction of Sichuan University into a world-class university. SCU would also earnestly implement the agreement on deepening cooperation between the city and the university and better integrate the training of high-quality talents, the construction of a first-class university and first-class disciplines into Sichuan's economy and society, making greater contributions to the development of Sichuan Province. According to the agreement, the Sichuan University-Yibin Industrial Park will fully draw upon SCU advantages in science, technology and human resources to conduct graduate education and training in related disciplines, research and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, and run schools through cooperation and exchanges with foreign countries. Moreover, a Five-grain Liquor (Wuliangye) Fund for high-end talents will be established to build a first-class teaching, scientific research and achievement transformation park that is based in Yibin and serves Sichuan Province and the west. The purpose of the park is also to create a new model of cooperation between universities and local areas, better serving the high-quality development of local economy.
