On November 22, the Evaluation and Assessment Committee of the Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education ( CSADGE ) held its third Plenary Session of the 6th Congress at Sichuan University. President Yanrong Li addressed this meeting.
29 members attended the meeting. They included Baoyin Huang, chairman of the Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education; Xuemei Ding, vice president of the Chinese Society of Academic Degrees and Graduate Education and Harbin Institute of Technology; Haili Bai, vice president of Tianjin Municipal Education Committee; Shulin Zhang, vice president of the Chinese Academic Degrees and Graduate Education and former vice president of University of Science and Technology of China; Mengquan Lin, vice chairman of the Academic Degree and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education; Gang Hu, President of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine. Baoyin Huang presided over the meeting.
On behalf of the university, Yanrong Li expressed his congratulations on the opening of the meeting and thankedall the members for their long-standing support and helps. He indicated that academic discipline evaluation plays an important role in the construction of "double first class" status, and the official discipline evaluation once every four years has become a public concern and is highly recognized by universities as well as the whole society. He said that in recent years, Sichuan University is focusing on three things around the construction of first-class disciplines. First, we should work hard to cultivate all kinds of talents by both internal training and bringing in from outside. This is a pivotal problem. Second, we should vigorously promote the interdisciplinary integration. This is a challenging issue. The third is to accelerate the building of houses and expand the physical space for teaching and research, which is a problem concerning space. At present, the university is preparing for the fifth round of academic discipline evaluation according to the requirements, striving to demonstrate the characteristics and advantages of Sichuan University.
The meeting deliberated and approved the adjustment list of members of the Evaluation and Assessment Committee and the nomination of deputy secretary general. The meeting also discussed the Management Measures of the Evaluation and Assessment Committee, and the Renewal Procedures of the Evaluation and Assessment Committee. In addition, it has determined excellent papers of the 2019 annual academic conference and reviewed the Program of 2019 Annual Academic Conference. Furthermore, the meeting listened to the introduction of the special research work of academic discipline evaluation and the next plan. Members discussed the evaluation of philosophy and social sciences with Chinese characteristics and listened to the report on the evaluation of academic degrees.
In his closing speech, Baoyin Huang expressed thanks to all members for their hard work. He said that to do a good job in evaluation and establish and improve a scientific evaluation system is an important part of promoting the modernization of education governance system and governance capacity. The Degree Evaluation Committee is a third party with Chinese characteristics and an important force to promote the development of national education. We should work together with colleges, universities and relevant research institutions to build a professional and authoritative evaluation committee, contributing to the construction of a strong education country.
