Being established in 1993, the SCU Science Fiction Association was a spontaneous science and technology student association. Since its founding 25 years ago, the association has organized over 1,000 activities based upon members’ interests. Its “Science Fiction Forum” has invited more than ten well-known sci-fi writers at home and abroad to come to share with SCU students their experiences. These writers include famous names such as Cixin Liu and Robert J. Sawyer. The Fantasy Culture Week has a different theme for each day during the week. “Land Quidditch” and “Harry Potter Riddles”, two programs stemming from Harry Potter, have enhanced campus activities innovatively. The Sci-Fi Association has provided students with a platform to exchange their Sci-Fi culture. It also spreads the sense of innovation and fantasy culture. Members have become sci-fi writers after graduation. Yunning Xie, A-Que and Jingbo Cheng have become backbone of the Chinese science fiction. During the eight years from 2009 to 2017, the association has been named one of the ten best associations seven times. In addition, it has won Galaxy Award for Best Sci-Fi Group Award, the highest honor of Chinese science fiction; and Global Chinese Sci-Fi Nebula Award among others.
