It’s time for the annual military training. Sauntering across the Jiang’an campus, you will find students doing training in camouflage military uniforms under the scotching sun. On June 28, the 2022 student military training kicked off at the No. 2 sports ground of the Jiang'an campus. This year's student military training was primarily for Class 2021 undergraduates, and more than 9,000 students participated.
The students' military training trains the students to stand in military posture, salute, cross stand, kick legs, step forward, quick march and other basic movements. Although the weather was very hot, the students said one after another, "I learned a lot and gained a lot, and I have a deeper understanding of the army and soldiers!"
Instructors demonstrated and guided students in competitions of organizing the internal affairs.
In order to raise students awareness of fire safety, the university especially set up a fire-fighting simulation in military training to help students effectively master the use of fire-fighting equipment and the skills of safe escape.
The shooting course took place in the Jiang’an gymnasium and was popular among the students in training. "Although shooting looks like a lot of fun, it requires plenty of practice day and night to hit the bull's-eye.” One student indicated, “Only after my own experience can I understand how difficult it is for soldiers to defend their country".
In addition, first aid skills are another training item of the students. Medical teachers and students of the West China School of Medicine explained and demonstrated basic first aid techniques for students so that they could cope with accidental injuries, heatstroke and other emergencies during military training.
In order for the students to get enough nutrition during the training, the canteen also designated a food window for the students to get free meals.
During the military training, personnel in charge of military training visited the students and paid them respects.
A student talked about his military training in an interview and said: "In my opinion, military training is an important part of our development and a milestone in our school life. The training enables us to understand perseverance and the spirit of safeguarding our country, and it also makes us realize the deep love of the university for us. "
