Mr. Chen Zhi’en, the Consul General of Singapore, and his delegation visited the university on April 25. President Wang Jinsong met with guests in Mingde building on Wangjiang Campus. Vice President Yao Leye and relevant unit heads from both parties attended the meeting.
Wang Jinsong welcomed Mr. Chen Zhi’en and his delegation on behalf of the university, and briefly introduced the basic situation of SCU. He pointed out that Sichuan University is accelerating the development of a world-class university with Chinese features and gives high priority to international exchange and cooperation. He expected to strengthen deep cooperation with world-renowned universities such as the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University in student joint training, teacher visits, scientific research and cooperation, cultural exchanges, etc., making greater contributions to the development of higher education in both countries.
Chen Zhi’en expressed gratitude for the warm reception and briefly introduced the situation of the Consulate General of Singapore in Chengdu. He stated that Sichuan University has a long history, boasts fruitful educational achievements, and maintains a close cooperative relationship with Singaporean universities. The Consulate General of Singapore in Chengdu is willing to bridge the gap between Sichuan University and the universities of Singapore, and promote youth exchanges and technological cooperation between the two countries.
