On December 26th, a delegation led by Consul General Vithit Powattanasuk of Royal Thai Consulate General in Chengdu paid a visit to Sichuan University. President Yanrong Li met with the visiting guests.
On behalf of SCU, President Li welcomed the visit of the Consul General and briefed the situations of SCU. He pointed out that, with the execution of "3+1" program cooperation agreements with Thai universities including the Prince of Songkla University, both sides established a good partnership, especially since 2011, when Princess Sirindhorn visited SCU and was awarded honorary professor of SCU. All these efforts turned a new chapter of exchange and cooperation between both sides, and made positive contributions to the traditional friendship of both countries. SCU will strive to improve the level of internationalization and comprehensively promote the construction of a world-class university, offering a bigger space for exchange and cooperation with Thailand and Southeast Asian countries, he added. He hopes that SCU can further enhance the exchanges of staff and students between China and Thailand.
Consul General Vithit Powattanasuk thanked SCU for its warm reception. He noted that SCU, with a long-standing history, has realized fruitful achievements, including the cooperation with Thai universities such as Prince of Songkla University. Strengthening internationalization is geared towards broadening the cooperation in the global context. For this purpose, more opportunities could be explored to promote the cooperation between Thai universities and Sichuan University, he said, adding that he will help to deepen the cooperation and students exchange between Sichuan University and famous Thai universities, and boost more joint academic researches.
