On September 25th, President Yanyong Li met and had a discussion with Turkish Ambassador to China Emin Önen and his delegationregarding educational cooperation and cultural exchangein the VIP Hall on Wangjiang Campus. Vice President Shijing Yan and other relevant personnel attended the meeting.

On behalf of Sichuan University, Yanrong Li extended welcome to Mr.Emin Önen and his delegation. After an introduction of the general situation of the university, Yanrong Li indicated that Sichuan University is currently working earnestly at building a world first-class university. Giving a high priority to international exchange and cooperation, SCU endeavors to develop a high-level internationalization of education. By means of programs such as “Dachuan View”, an onverseas exchange program; University Immersion Program, and other international training programs, SCU opens up new windows for students to observe and learn about the world in hopes to broaden their horizon and boost their academic capacity. Yanrong Li further said that there is still lots of room to improve the exchange and cooperation between Sichuan University and Turkish universities. He hoped that Ambassador Emin Önen would support the substantive cultural exchanges and student study visits, making contributions to educational cooperation and cultural exchanges between China and Turkey.

Ambassador Emin Önen indicates that Turkey and China both are ancient civilizations with a long history of exchanges and close relations of cooperation.He believes that the friendly exchange among universities will promote not only scientific research but also the friendship between the two peoples, especially young people of both countries. I will do everything in my power to promote cooperation between Turkish universities and Sichuan University in teacher-student visits, language teaching and cultural dissemination, so as to build a bridge of friendship for further strengthening academic and cultural exchanges between China and Turkey.
