On April 29th, the 15th L’Oreal for Women in Science award ceremony was held in Beijing. Ten distinguished women who made significant achievements in medicine, biology, geosciences and aerospace sciences have won the award. Professor Xiaohua Liu of SCU College of Chemistry is the only person on the list in Sichuan Province.
Xiaohua Liu, a doctoral student advisor at College Of Chemistry, mainly focuses her research on asymmetric synthesis methodology and synthesis of physiological active compounds. Currently, the research work concentrates on the design and synthesis of novel chiral guanidine-amide and amine ligands and catalysts, and the asymmetric catalytic reaction with high efficiency and selectivity. It is reported that the L’Oreal for Women in Science review panel is made up of 39 academicians and experts. Out of the 224 nominees from 116 work units, 10 young woman scientists have won the award after a rigorous review.So far, the L’Oreal for Women in Science Award has been held for 15 sessions, and 134 outstanding women scientific and technological workers have won the award. It has become an important platform for China to discover and recommend high-level women scientists.
