Clarivate Analytics (former Thomson Reuters) has recently released the latest ESI (Essential Science Indicators) rankings. Clinical Medicine of Sichuan University (SCU) has entered the top 1‰for the first time, a progress by three places from January 2018. This ranking has put SCU in the 7th place of universities under the construction of “Double First-Class” status in China. At this point, the numbers of SCU academic subjects ranking in the top 1% , top 5‰, and top 1‰are 15, 6 and 3 respectively. We have therefore analyzed and compared the ESI rankings of academic subjects from 42 universities under the construction of “Double First-Class” status in China in order to provide reference for university decision-makers.
