In its news programming “‘the Belt and Road’ initiative in Chengdu, Sichuan” of the News Studio, the CCTV reported the liver minimally invasive surgery (MIS) training of the West China Hospital, Sichuan University on April 8.
The report points out that China is advanced in the world in terms of the overall surgical success rate and postoperative recurrence rate of liver and gallbladder diseases. The West China Hospital has taken the lead in employing the MIS techniques for laparoscopic live donor liver transplantation.
Wu Hong, the vice president of WCH, stated that we need to provide training to fellow medical doctors to experience the surgical philosophy and advanced techniques of WCH during the surgical process. At the same time, we will also hold MDT (multiple disciplinary team) discussions on difficult cases to showcase our experience in diagnosing and treating difficult diseases.
The training lasts for 21 days. WCH doctors will introduce China’s MIS techniques to peers from "the Belt and Road" countries and regions via theory study, surgical observation, simulation training, thematic discussion, etc. 30 middle-aged and young liver and gallbladder surgeons from 16 countries including Hungary, Egypt, Belarus, Thailand, among others, participated in the training.
