SCU Holds an International Forum on Public Administration

Recently, SCU first-class disciplines construction platform of the “Management Science and State Governance”, the Maxwell School of Syracuse University and the American Review of Public Administration held an international academic forum on public administration research. Vice President Zhanjiang John Liu of Syracuse University, Dean David M. Van Slyke of the Syracuse University Maxwell School, Assistant professors John McPeak, Dimitar D. Gueorguiev, Director Xueyi Chen of Advance Public Administration Education China Program, Professor Jeremy Hall, chief editor of the American Review of Public Administration, Dongya Gao, a research fellow of Auburn University, Professor Xiaoping Jiang, Party Secretary of the College of Public Administration, a chief professor at the “Management Science and State Governance”, and experts and students from the Department of Administration, the Department of Labor and Social Security, the Department of Land Resource Management, the Department of Public Utilities Management, the Department of Sociology and the Western Frontier Center participated in the exchange. A total of 40 people attended the forum.

At the forum, Xiaoping Jiang extended a warm welcome to all scholars and experts, and made a concise introduction of the first-class disciplines construction platform and faculty research achievements at Public Administration College. Professor Zhanjiang John Liu thanked the first-class disciplines construction platform for its invitation and delivered a speech about challenges and opportunities facing Public Administration disciplines in the new era.

Professor VanSlyke spoke of the development history, faculty reserves, main teaching subjects at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Professor VanSlyke expected to carry out a comprehensive cooperation and exchange with SCU’s first-class discipline platform of Public Administration College in the fields of scientific research, talent training, teachers exchange, and so on. Professor Jeremy Hall shared his expertise regarding the construction of high-level international journals. In addition, he made a detailed explanation of magazine submission requirements and way to submit fo rAmerican Review of Public Administration.

In her summary, Professor Xiaoping Jiang indicated that the first-class discipline construction platform of “Management Science and State Governance” would do its utmost to keep up with the standards of world first-class universities, colleges and academic platforms, further promoting the international construction level of the first-class discipline construction platform.

It is understood that the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs is a world first-class school of public administration and is highly influential worldwide. As the most influential academic journal in public administration, the American Review of Public Administration holds the reins in scientific research and the development of academic subjects.
