Recently, the committee of 100 Leadership Scholarship Program, an organization by outstanding Chinese American elites, has convened in Beijing to give out the 2017-2018 “100 Leadership Scholarship” prizes to 32 outstanding graduate students from 18 Chinese key universities. Ruiqi Chen (advisor: Professor Chao You), a doctoral student of class 2016 in Neurosurgery and Yuanmin Li (Advisor: Professor Qingqui Cheng), a doctoral student of Regenerative Medicine Center, have won the prize. Chairman Huayang Wu of the 100 Leadership Scholarship Program and Dean of University of California, Hastings College of the Law; American Ambassador Terry Branstad; Kaifu Li, CEO ofSinovation Ventures; Ms. Chiling Tong, former under secretary of the Department of Commerce of the U.S.A., attended this award ceremony.
After a fierce competition, 32 winners have been chosen from nearly 100 candidates nationwide. SCU has nominated five graduate students for this prize, and two graduate students from West China School of Basic Medical Sciences and Forensic Medicine have become the prizewinner. Among them, Miss Yuanmin Li is currently the chairman of Sichuan Student Federation and the president of Sichuan University Graduate Association. She has won more than 40 honors such as Tang Lixin Excellent Student Scholarship, Sichuan Excellent Graduate Student and Doctoral Graduate Scholarship. She has ranked first in her major for six consecutive years. Ruiqi Chen has published as the first author 17 SCI papers and has been a leader of two school-level research projects.He has won the national championship and the best debater title in the debate contest of young neurosurgeons. In addition, he has received a master's degree scholarship, a national scholarship for doctoral students and Tang Lixin Excellent Student scholarship, etc.
It is reported that the American 100 Leadership Scholarship Program is an elite organization composed of Chinese Americans from a wide range of fields such as commerce, academia, politics and literature. All members have made achievements in their respective fields. Launched in 2005, the 100 Leadership Scholarship Program Prize is a long-term project set up to reward outstanding graduate students with outstanding leadership, who have actively participated in public welfare activities. It aims to support China in cultivating a new generation of elites who are competent professionally and have high moral standards. It also seeks to strengthen the ties between overseas Chinese in the United States and Chinese colleges and universities.
