The National Hospital/Medical School Science and Technology Evaluation Metrics (STEM) Rankings for 2019 were released on August 21. West China Hospital ranked first in overall performance for seven consecutive years.According to the STEM rankings, West China Hospital ranks No.1 in Anesthesiology, Nursing Science, Urology Surgery and Emergency Medicine; No. 2 in Intensive Care; and No. 3 in Neurology, Psychological Medicine, Oncology and Thoracic Surgery.West China School/Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University topped the list of stomatology for the seventh straight time.

The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences has published the STEM rankings for seven years since 2014 (2014-2020). The rankings have garnered extensive concern from the society. The STEM research of Chinese hospitals in 2019 covers 1,633 hospitals and 107 medical colleges in China. The evaluation index includes the three dimensions of scientific and technological output, academic influence and scientific and technological conditions.This comprehensive evaluation system covers the processes of scientific and innovative activities, and indicates the enormous influence of the hospital by standardized sources and method.
