“ Music Brightens Life, My Motherland and I ”-- the Star-Studded Sky Amateur Symphony Orchestra Performs at Sichuan University

On the evening of April 14th , the concert “ Music Brightens Life, my Motherland and I ” was conducted in the gymnasium of Jiang’an campus. The concert was part of the campaign to introduce lofty art to campus, and the amateur Star-studded Sky Symphony Orchestra was the performer.Xiangcheng Li, Vice Chairman of the university council and the heads of relevant departments attended the concert. In addition, SCU teachers and students also watched the performance together.

The orchestral ensemble Ode to the Red Flag kicked off the concert. Violin duet " My Motherland ", female solo " Today is Your Birthday " and " My Motherland and I " jointly expressed a sincere affection and blessings for the great motherland. “ Swan Geese ", a cello performance, was resonating and melodious, demonstrating the national style. The " Three Chapters of the Moon " combined three different styles of music describing the moon, bringing about an entirely new experience. " Jianzhen Sails East ", a piano concerto, was punctuated with rhythms alternating between slow-paced and turbulent tempos, and fully expressed the hardship of Jianzhen’s journey to the east. At the concert, the Star-studded Sky Symphony Orchestra also played " New Spring Music " and " One Step Away ", whereas our university symphony and orchestra ensemble performed " Bat Prelude " and " Kangkang Dance ". The whole performance was filled with climax one after another, bringing the audience a musical feast.

Mr. Zhiming Ye, former vice president of Shanghai University, also acted as the emcee of the concert. During the performance, he introduced the army officers, university teachers, institute experts and scholars among the members of the orchestra. He then asked them to tell the moving story of "Music Brightens Life", and share the inspiration that music had brought to them. Their stories aroused strong resonance among the audience. Yanmin Chen, vice chairman of the China Television Drama Director Committee and first-class director of the state, also contributed a poem to Sichuan University. The concert came to an end in the high melody of Singing in Praise of the Motherland. Xiangcheng Li and the representatives of teachers and students presented flowers to the members of Star-studded Sky Symphony Orchestra. The applause continued unabated for a long time.

About the symphony orchestra:

The Star-studded Sky Amateur Symphony Orchestra was founded early 2012. It is made up of more than 100 members of the "Three Senior Groups" (senior intellectuals, senior cadres and senior military officers) in 16 provinces and municipalities throughout the country and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The members of the orchestra love music. In addition to their outstanding achievements in their respective fields, they have been passionate about their music dreams. The band has received financial aids from the National Arts Fund.
