SCU Gets an Impressive Increase in Approved National Social Science Projects

The National Social Science Fund of China and the National Natural Science Foundation of China are the two primary financial resources for basic research projects in China. It is a prority of the two foundations to provide funds for research work at research-oriented universities and well-rounded scientific research institutions across China. Sichuan University (SCU) have been resolute in her policy to develop social sciences characterized by an SCU style. As a result, SCU has made a number of accomplishments over the years. According to National Planning Office of Philosophy and Social Science, Sichuan University has 68 research projects approved by the National Social Science Fund of China in 2018, ranking the first place of all Chinese univerisities. And 11 research projects are listed as key projects, which puts SCU in the first place along with Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. This has been a breakthough in the reseach work of social sciences at Sichuan University.

A job well done!

A large quantity: The SCU numbers of approved research projects are 22, 23, 26, 42, 50 and 68 from 2013 to 2018 respectively. The national rankings are No.9, No.11, No.22, No.3, No.1 (Shared), and No.1.

Valuable and important: Research projects that have won approval by either the National Social Science Fund of China for its annual fund, the Youth Project Fund and West China Development Fund number 68. And 11 of them are key research projects. These numbers put Sichuan University in the first place of all Chinese universities.

High Quality Research Across the Board: The 68 research projects touch upon 20 academic subjects, some of them rank top of the list in Chinese Universities. World History (4), Political Science (3) and Foreign Literature (3) rank the first place in terms of the number of projects, followed by Management Science (7), which ranks No.2 nationwide. Chinese History (5), Archeology (4), and Study of Religions (3) rank No. 3.
