SCU Students Won 8 First Prizes at the 15th Chinese Mathematics Competitions for College Students

On April 20th, the finals of the 15th Chinese Mathematics Competitions for College Students were held at Shandong University. 18 students from our university advanced to the finals and achieved excellent results, winning eight first prizes, six second prizes, and four third prizes.

The finals were divided in three different groups: the senior category of the Mathematics Major Group, the junior category of the Mathematics Major Group, and the Non-Mathematics Major Group. All 18 contestants from our university have won awards. Four outstanding students from the College of Mathematics, Yan Zihan, Liu Shizhen, Xu Zhihe, and Tao Zeyu, won the first prize in the senior category of the Mathematics Major Group; Six students from the COM, namely, Xu Nuo, Yang Zhenyu, Wang Jiahao, Xiao Yuan, He Mianyun, and Liu Yuguo, won the second prize in the junior category of the Mathematics Major Group. Xie Yu, Long Yanxun, and Liu Yunpeng respectively won the third prize in the senior and junior categories. Gu Qingsong and Dong Xin from the College of Water Resources and Hydropower, Fan Jingyang from the College of Software Engineering, and Hu Bohan from the School of Mechanical Engineering won the first prize in the Non-Mathematics Major Group. Yan Zihan stood out and ranked in the top three in the national finals in the senior category of the Mathematics Major Group. In addition, SCU has won the first prize of the Excellent University Organization Award.

The Chinese Mathematics Competitions (CMC) is a national high-level competition for undergraduate students. Sponsored by the Chinese Mathematical Society, CMC aims to foster the interests of university students in learning mathematics, and to cultivate innovative talent in the mathematical field. The first CMC was launched in 2009, and has been held annually since then. This year's competitions had a total of 32 competition venues and 1,108 universities and 288,355 contestants took part in the competitions. More than 1,100 people have made it to the national finals.
