After review and evaluation, the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNSFC) has recently announced the list of recipients of NNSFC financial support for the year 2022. 589 projects of Sichuan University have got approved for NNSFC funding, with a total amount of 301 million RMB. This represents a record high in terms of the number of approved projects and the funding.

First-Class universities are the main force of basic research and the birthplace of major scientific and technological breakthroughs. The National Natural Science Foundation of China is the "main channel" to support basic research in China, and its approved projects are one of the important indicators to gauge the academic level and scientific research strength of universities. In recent years, the university has given high priority to NNSFC projects. As a result, the number of applications and approvals for NSFC projects have increased significantly. The formation of a high-quality basic research atmosphere is accelerating, which provides important support for speeding up the development of a world-class university.

3,083 projects of SCU have applied for the National Natural Science Foundation’s funding, and 589 projects got approved. Of the 589 projects, there are 285 general projects, 282 youth projects, five distinguished young scholars projects, seven excellent young scholars projects and one innovation group.
