In August 2021, the Tibet Autonomous Region and West China Second University Hospital of Sichuan University signed a cooperation agreement on the construction of a women and children's hospital in Tibet.

On October 25, the appointment ceremony of the president of the Tibet Autonomous Region Women and Children's Hospital of West China Second University Hospital was held in the Tibet Autonomous Region Women and Children's Hospital. Wang Qiu was appointed president and Yu Tao the vice president.

The Tibet Autonomous Region Women and Children's Hospital of West China Second University Hospital was inaugurated on October 26.

At the inauguration, President Wang Qiu said that the hospital will be dedicated to the public welfare, always focus on the functional positioning of the women and children's Hospital, give full play to the advantages of aid cadres, and benchmark the high standards and high requirements of West China Second University Hospital. In addition, we will continuously improve the modern hospital management system, and strive to develop the hospital into a "highland" of women and children's medical treatment and health care in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Leaders and guests conducted on-site investigation in the hospital’s outpatient building after the inauguration ceremony.

A total of 240 people signed up for the free health screening in Tibet Autonomous Region, of which 224 actually took the screening, including 85 in obstetrics and gynecology (including reproductive medicine), 139 in pediatrics (including child protection and child rehabilitation). 24 medical experts (20 experts from West China Second University Hospital, one from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, one from this local hospital, and two from Lhasa Women and Children’s Health Clinic) administered the screening and consultation.
