SCU Faculties Hold 72 Positions in 2018-2022 HE Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education

Recently, the Ministry of Education held the inaugural meeting of the 2018-2022 National Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education in Beijing (hereinafter referred to as the “Teaching Committee”). 69 people of SCU have been selected as members of the Teaching Committee to hold 72 positions. Of the 72 positions, there are three directors, 12 deputy directors, three secretaries and 54 members. SCU has had 13 more people in the new teaching committee than last term. Professor Bi Shi (an academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering) becomes Director of Light Industry, Professor Lin Zhang becomes Director of Forensic Medicine, and Professor Lin Ye Director of Stomatology. Jianguo Wang, Shunqing Cao, Bin Liang, Shuo Shi, Jian Qiao, Yaowu Dang, Changwei Hu, Honghui Lin, Guangfu Yin, Weimin Li, Xuehong Wang, Tao Li have become vice chairman in their respective disciplines.

Having a large number of members, this Teaching Committee consists of 5,550 members from 33 provinces and municipalities including HK SAR and Macao SAR. There are 111 teaching steering committees, covering two comprehensive disciplines, 109 specialties and 40 division committees. The most authoritative experts of higher education are among the members. There are 124 national distinguished teachers, 103 academicians and 308 Changjiang Scholars in the Teaching Committee.

The HE Teaching Committee is a group of experts who research, consult, advise and evaluate teaching in undergraduate programs of Chinese universities. It is a non-permanent academic institution. The number of members in the committee reflects the teaching level and academic influence of a university. Therefore, it is a matter of great attention in the circle of Chinese higher education.
