11 SCU Experts and Scholars Have Been Selected for the Fourth State “Ten Thousand People Plan”

Recently, the Office of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC has issued “ Notice on the Issuance of the Fourth Batch of State ‘Ten Thousand People Plan’ Lists of Selected Personnel ”. A total of 645 leading talents of technological innovation, 397 leading talents of science and technology entrepreneurship, 103 renowned teachers and 274 top young talents have been selected. SCU has 11 people selected for this plan, including one national renowned teacher, four top young talents and six leading talents of technological innovation.

Hongxin Deng, a research fellow of West China Hospital, Professor Mao Chen of West China Hospital, Professor Canhua Huang of West China School of Basic Medical Sciences and Forensic Medicine, Professor Yong Peng of the State Key Laboratory of Biotherapy of West China Hospital, Professor Xiuli Wang of College of Chemistry, and Professor Feng Dai of College of Water Resource and Hydropower have been selected as the leading talents of technological innovation. Professor Zongguang Zhou of West China Hospital has been selected as the national renowned teacher; Professor Jie Pan of West China School of Public Health, Xin Huang, a research fellow at College of Light Industry, Textile and Food Engineering, Jianfeng Liu, a research fellow at College of Water Resource and Hydropower, and Professor Huawei Zou of Polymer Research Institute have become the top young talents.

The full name of the state “ Ten Thousand People Plan ” is the National Special Support Plan for High-Level Talents. As a major state project of personnel, its goal is to provide special support for a group of carefully selected distinguished experts and top young scholars in natural sciences, engineering, philosophy and social sciences for ten years. The State “Ten Thousand People Plan” consists of three tiers: tier one refers to the distinguished talents. The plan will support talents who have made important scientific research findings in the frontier areas of science and technology in the world. They have the potentials for becoming a worlds-class scientist. The second tier is leading talents, including leading talents of technological innovation, leading talents of science and technology entrepreneurship, leading talents of philosophy and social sciences, and famous teachers in teaching. The third tier includes top-notch young talents. It plans to support talents who are emerging in key fields of natural sciences, engineering technology, philosophy, social sciences, culture and art, and who have high academic achievements and potential for innovation and development. Generally speaking, these talents are no more than 40 years old and should hold a Ph.D.

The fourth batch of the state “ Ten Thousand People Plan ” includes 1, 419 talents of two levels. Of these talents, 645 are leading talents of technological innovation.397 are leading talents of science and technology entrepreneurship, 103 renowned teachers and 274 top young talents ( 210 of natural sicences, and 64 of philosophy, scial sciences and humanlities ).
