The 22nd International Federation of ORL Societies (IFOS) was recently held in Dubai. Professor Chen Fei’s team from West China School of Medicine Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery was invited to attend the conference and deliver a presentation at the Head And Neck Subspecialty Parallel Forum, and shared relevant research results via a poster. Sun Xiaoru, a team member, shared the application of a modified internal thoracic artery perforator fat fascia flap in cervical esophageal reconstruction of recurrent papillary thyroid cancer. This surgical technique was pioneered by Professor Chen Fei's team, providing a new approach to head and neck surgery.

The IFOS was first held in 1928 and has since been held once every four years. It has become the largest and most prestigious academic event in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. The theme of this event was “Connecting thoughts and creating a better future”. It included eight parallel forums attended by representatives of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery from more than 100 countries and regions around the world.
