From July to August this year, monsoon rains caused floods in Pakistan. The raging floods washed away large areas of crops, destroyed more than one million houses, killed more than 1,500 people, inundated one-third of the country, and most areas are still paralyzed. After the disaster, the Pakistan Study Center of Sichuan University launched a donation initiative to relevant institutions, enterprises and charities in the province at the first time, and received more than 450,000 yuan worth of tents, solar lighting lamps, drinking water machines, blankets and other materials from charities, individuals, and 13 enterprises including Sichuan Kaicen Enterprise (Group), and more than 14,000 yuan in cash. Sichuan University donated 197,600 yuan worth of disaster relief materials.

In the wake of the Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, all sectors of Pakistan's society immediately extended their help and even used war readiness tents to support the earthquake stricken areas in Sichuan. The first batch of relief goods to Pakistan by the people led by our university was highly valued and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Sichuan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and other relevant institutions, and the campaign received positive responses from all sectors of society. This donation is not only the largest amount of donated materials in China, but also the first time that non-governmental organizations have collected donations for flood fighting and disaster relief in Pakistan.
