On December 5th, delegations from the Prince of Songkla University, Lovely Professional University, and the College of William and Mary visited SCU respectively. President Yanrong Li met separately with Niva Gabuda, President of Prince of Songkla University, Ramesh Kanwar, President of Lovely Professional University and Stephen Hansen, the Vice-Chancellor of the College of William and Mary, along with their delegation members. Vice President Shijing Yan, together with relevant faculty and staff from relevant departments, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Yanrong Li welcomed the visiting delegations of the three universities, noting that SCU hopes to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with them, in particular on student exchanges, scientific research cooperation and cultural exchanges. He also underlined the need of exploring cooperation plans for sustainable and mutually beneficial development.
Mr. Niva Gabuda, President of Prince of Songkla University, said during the meeting that, since signing of the cooperation agreement in 2007, the two institutions have established friendly partnership; and a total of 266 undergraduates from the Prince of Songkla University have received the Chinese language training in Sichuan University. As one of the most famous universities in Thailand, the Prince of Songkla University strives to build itself into a world-class research university, meanwhile it plans to carry out more fruitful cooperation with Sichuan University, especially on Chinese language education and graduate exchanges.
Mr. Ramesh Kanwar, President of Lovely Professional University, congratulated Sichuan University for its achievements in recent years. In face of the opportunities and challenges brought about by the development of higher education, the higher education institutions should continuously improve the international education and cultivate talents with global horizons. He hopes that in the future, both universities will carry out in-depth scientific research cooperation and exchanges with SCU, making new contributions to promoting education and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
After giving a full introduction to the situation of the College of William and Mary, Vice-Chancellor Stephen Hansen pointed out that the College of William and Mary counts much on the development of liberal arts, which is really an advantage of Sichuan University. As he witnessed the establishment and development of the Confucius Institute in Washington University, Mr. Stephen Hansen hoped to further promote the cultural and humanity exchanges and cooperation with SCU, since internationalization falls within the requirements of the world-class universities in this new era.
