Professor Pengzhi Lin from the College of Water Resource and Hydropower Elected a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts

At the 2022 annual meeting of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, Professor Pengzhi Lin of the College of Water Resource and Hydropowerreceived a “letter of election” and became a member of EASA.(Class VI-Technical and Environmental Sciences). “The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is a non-governmental European association committed to promoting scientific and societal progress. Founded in 1990 as a learned society, our members are leading scientists, artists, and practitioners of governance, who are dedicated to innovative research, interdisciplinary and transnational collaboration as well as the exchange and dissemination of knowledge.” EASA currently has more than 2,000 members, of which 32 are Nobel laureates, and it is one of the scientific academies with the highest proportion of Nobel laureates among the global scientific academies. For example, Klaus Hasselmann, one of the Nobel Prize 2021 winners in Physics, was elected as a member of the Academy in 2004.

Pengzhi Lin is a professor and deputy director ofthe State Key Laboratory of Hydraulics and Mountain River Engineering (SKLH), a recipient ofthe National Science Foundation of China for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, a distinguished professor of the Ministry of Education's Key Talent Program, and a winner of the first prize of the Ministry of Education's Natural Science. He has long been engaged in complex turbulence mechanism and wave dynamics, computational hydrodynamics and their applications in water conservancy, coastal and marine engineering water disaster prevention and water pollution control. He has published two English monographs and more than 100 academic papers, cited more than 7,000 times (Google Scholar), and was selected as one of Stanford's top 2% global scientists (career influence).

Pengzhi Lin is currently the chief editor of the international journalApplied Ocean Research.He also serves as a deputy editor in chief of other international journals such as Journal of Hydraulic Engineering, Journal of Hydro-environment Research, Journal of Ocean Engineering and Marine Research, Water Science and Engineering.  He is an editorial board member of Journal of Earthquake and Tsunami, Coastal Engineering, Engineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics,  etc.
