The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has publicized the NSFC funded excellent achievements during the 13th five-year plan: "Selected excellent achievements funded by NSFC (VII)". The achievement of "construction and action mechanisms of highly-efficient condensed-phase flame retardant systems for non-charring polymeric materials" by Wang Yuzhong (academician of CAE) of our university was selected. This is the third NSFC funded research achievement of Wang Yuzhong’s team that has been inducted into "the list of selected excellent achievements funded by NSFC".
The NSFC reviews the NSFC funded research achievements over the past years and then includes in the "list of selected excellent achievements funded by NSFC" those innovative ones which have important application prospects. In addition, the selected achievements can offer solutions to key problems in China’s economic development, and improve China's independent innovation ability. The National Natural Science Foundation of China collects four or five achievements in each discipline and send them to the academic committee for further evaluation and selection. The selected projects are then compiled into a volume and distributed at home and abroad. Seven volumes have been published so far.
