On August 4, the American Academy of Nursing released the list of the Fellow of American Academy of Nursing (FAAN) selected in 2021. Professor Hu Xiuying, director of the West China Nursing Innovation Research Center and director of the Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Nursing, was elected into FAAN for her outstanding contributions in the fields of nursing management, nursing education and nursing research. She is the second expert form West China Hospital to receive this honor.

The American Academy of Nursing was established in 1973 to encourage global talents to guide the development of the nursing discipline, participate in the formulation and implementation of health care policies, and use nursing knowledge to promote human health. In 2021, a total of 28 Chinese nursing scholars was selected into the FAAN list, and there are currently more than 2,900 fellows in nearly 40 countries and regions around the world.
