According to the latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) rankings by Clarivate Analytics (former Thomson Reuters), 16 academic subjects have been ranked in the top 1%. And this ranking puts Sichuan University in the seventh place of all the universities under the construction of “Double First-Class” status, one spot ahead than last year. Eight academic subjects are placed in the top 5‰, with one more than the previous ranking. Computer Science has made it to the top 5‰ for the first time, which is a move up by four places. The number of academic subjects in the top 1‰ remains three, placing SCU in the eighth place among all the universities under the construction of “Double First-Class” status. SCU shares the eighth place with another university. In this report, we have compared and analyzed the ESI rankings of academic subjects at 42 universities under the construction of “Double First-Class” status in China. This report is for the reference of SCU administrators.
