Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects published its 2018 ranking of academic subjects. This ranking covers 54 academic subjects in natural sciences, engineering, life sciences, medical sciences and social sciences. 27 academic subjects of Sichuan University have been selected, with 8 being in the top 100 and 4 in the top 50.

On May 11, 2018, Clarivate Analytics (former Thomson Reuters) released the latest ESI (Essential Science Indicators). So far, the disciplines of SCU ranking in the top 1% of ESI have reached up to 16, the number of disciplines ranking in the top 5‰ has risen up to 9, and the disciplines ranking in the top 1‰ have reached 3, tied respectively for the 8th, the 13th and the 8th place among all the “Double First-Class” construction universities in China.
