Archaeological Findings that SCU Participated in have been Selected China’s Top Ten Archaeological Discoveries of 2021

The School of Archaeology and Museology of our university participated in the excavations of Jijiaocheng site in Lixian county, Hunan province and the Sanxingdui Archaeological Site in Guanghan, Sichuan province, both are major projects of "archaeological China". The two archaeological findings were selected as China’s top ten archaeological discoveries of 2021 on March 31. Actually, on March 27, the archaeological excavation of Sanxingdui Shang Dynasty site in Guanghan City won the title of "new Chinese archaeological discovery of 2021" by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. In addition, the Jijiaocheng Neolithic site is also a key project of the " Chinese civilization source exploration project". These achievements have handed in a satisfactory answer for "archaeological China" and "Chinese civilization source exploration project ".

In recent years, the School of Archaeology and Museology are guided by academic issues and have taken part in the major projects of "archaeological China" and "Chinese civilization source exploration project". Dedicated to the projects of "Research on the Bashu civilization evolution in Sichuan and Chongqing" and "Research on the civilization evolution in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River", the school has achieved great success. This project is another landmark achievement after the Zhaoguo Cave site in Gui'an New Area of Guizhou won the title of "China’s top ten archaeological discoveries of 2020".
