“Nature Index”is published by Springer Nature Publishing Group in an index way, providing a free and easy to understand method for the analysis of high-quality scientific research output. In November 2014, Springer Nature published its first global Nature Index using weighted fractional count ( WFC ). The analysis of nature index is based on the statistics of research papers published by scientific research institutions in 68 natural science journals such asNature,ScienceandCellin the previous year. It traces the information of authors of about 60,000 high-quality research papers, covering more than 20,000 scientific research institutions in the world. The papers published in these journals represent to a certain extent the high-level research results of the world. As far as medical institutions are concerned, the ranking of Nature Index can reflect the level of scientific research in the basic field in a certain period of time, which is very important for large teaching hospitals.

• Article count / AC - Each author's country or institution receives an AC score, regardless of whether the article has one or multiple authors.

• Fractional count / FC - FC takes into account the relative contributions of each author. The FC total score of an article is at most 1. All authors share the score when each author is deemed to have the same contribution. For example, if there are ten authors in a paper, the FC score of each author is 0.1.
