On March 10, the first Tianfu Forum of 2019, sponsored by the Chinese Culture Institute of Sichuan University and Laozi Research Institute of Sichuan University, was held in the Chinese Culture Institute. With the theme of “The Tao Te Ching Wisdom and Healthy China”, this forum vibrantly demonstrated the charm and vitality of Chinese traditional culture by centering around academic speeches coupled with various art performances, exhibitions of calligraphy works and paintings.
Shichuang Zhan, Dean of SCU Laozi Research Institute, made a speech and briefly introduced how SCU Chinese Culture Institute and Laozi Research Institute started. He hoped that everybody could vigorously cultivate their temperament through "Taoism and art", promoting the innovative development of excellent Chinese traditional culture.
In his speech, Associate Dean Yading Liu of SCU Chinese Culture Institute suggested that the institute would further intensify its research on Chinese culture, Bashu culture and Tianfu culture, painstakingly publish outstanding achievements of Chinese culture. Besides, the institute would also focus on disseminating Chinese voice, telling Chinese stories, inheriting and promoting excellent Chinese traditional culture.
Shichuang Zhan, Yading Liu, Baihong Du, president of Wudang Grand Learning Institute, and Yajun Sun, chairman of Guangdong Merid Network Technology Co., Ltd., jointly unveiled the nameplate "Base for the Cultivation and Inheritance of Excellent Chinese Traditional Culture". Shichuang Zhan , Yading Liu, Baihong Du and Professor Yu Qiang of Beijing Normal University unveiled the nameplate "Daoist Art Research and Development Center of Sichuan University Chinese Culture Institute".
At forum, Professor Yu Qiang, Professor Yongfeng Huang, director of Taoism and Traditional Culture Research Center of Xiamen University, Professor Qingguo Xie of School of Journalism and Communication, Xiamen University, Associate Professor Wenwen Wu of Minnan Culture Research Center, Minnan Normal University, Shichuang Zhan, Associate Professor Guoqing Yu, who is associate dean of SCU Laozi Research Institute made a speech respectively. Wudang Grand Learning Institute Kung Fu Troupe performed internal school boxing. Shichuang Zhan showed the seal writing of Taoist secret biographies. During the forum, performances of guqin, xiao( a vertical bamboo flute ), flute, erhu and other instrumental music, dance performances, female solo singing and recitation of the Tao Te Ching in various dialects were also given.
The SCU Chinese Culture Institute was established on September 27, 2018. The institute is committed to promoting the creative transformation and innovative development of excellent Chinese traditional culture. The Base for the Cultivation and Inheritance of Excellent Chinese Traditional Culture and the Taoist Art Research and Development Center of Sichuan University Chinese Culture Institute will be conducive to further research, development and promotion of excellent Chinese traditional culture with Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism as its core.
