As the first Sino-US cooperative academic entity in Western China,Sichuan University-Pittsburgh Institute (SCUPI) has made remarkable achievements in the training of engineering talent with an international viewpoint. Continuing the excellent rate of further education of the first class last year, 86 of the 121 students who graduated on June 19 this year were admitted to research institutes of well-known overseas universities. 12 of them were admitted to graduate programs leading to a doctorate. The 86 students received offers from a total of 284 overseas research institutes (with an average of 3-4 choices for each student) and 30 scholarships, of which 12 were full scholarships (including tuition and living expenses).

Up to now, about one-third of the students have been admitted to engineering schools of prestigious universities, including Stanford University, the University of California, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Purdue University, the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Southern California.

Additionally, many students chose to go to the top universities in Europe and Australia this year, such as Cambridge University, Imperial College London, the Entrepreneurial University - TUM (Germany), Royal Institute of Technology (KTH); and the University of New South Wales, the University of Melbourne and the University of Sydney in Australia. In addition to further study abroad, 15 students decided to stay in China for graduate studies. Besides Sichuan University, they will go to Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Tongji University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xiamen University, Central South University and Dalian University of Technology. At present, the overall further education rate of the graduating class is 83.5%.
