SCU student volunteers could be seen everywhere at the opening ceremony of the Universiade last night. They served in different roles, such as the torchbearer, flag bearer, impressive actor, guide volunteer, and service volunteer.

Sun Yimin, a Class 2020 doctoral student at West China School of Stomatology, was one of the flag bearers who marched in with the FISU (International University Sports Federation) flag. Sun was a recipient of the title “National Good Youth”.

As the torch was aimed at the fuse, the Sun God Bird slowly rose, which reflected each other across the space.

Volunteer actors showcase the spirit of youth to the world
The youth of 56 ethnic groups sang the song "Singing in praise of the motherland" with great passions. Wang Ying, a Class 2021 undergraduate student from the School of Life Sciences, and Yu Jie, a Class 2021 undergraduate student from the School of Cyberspace Science and Engineering, attended the opening ceremony as representatives of the Pumi and Maonan ethnic groups respectively. Yang Shuyu, a Class 2022 undergraduate from the Business School, participated in the preparations for the opening ceremony as a representative of the Miao ethnic group. In addition, six medical staff members from West China School of Medicine also participated as performance assistants.

Lovely figures attract the attention of people around the world on the stage of the opening ceremony. In the "Youth Friendship" program, 29 volunteers from the College of Arts played the role of adorable giant pandas. They sometimes waved their paws and sometimes jumped and spun, becoming a highlight of the show.

Holding a Shu embroidery banner and wearing chili red Shu brocade, the guides were particularly eye-catching at the opening ceremony.31 volunteer guides are from Sichuan University, responsible for guiding delegations from China, Australia, Brazil and other countries to enter the venue.

During the opening ceremony of the Universiade, 69 student volunteers from Sichuan University provided various services for the smooth opening of the Universiade. Another 12 West China Hospital medical staff participated in medical security.
